From the Netherlands to Curaçao: Green ambitions with Green Key
The Green Key certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. It represents a hotel’s commitment to measurable, third-party-verified improvements in sustainability, and is globally recognized by both guests and industry partners.
All of our Dutch hotels currently hold the prestigious Green Key Gold certification, a clear reflection of our dedication to responsible hospitality. This label ensures that we meet strict environmental criteria in areas such as energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable purchasing, and guest engagement. These practices are not just operational requirements; they are integrated in the way we think, plan, and serve.
Looking ahead, it is our ambition that all future Corendon hotels will also obtain Green Key certification, reinforcing our long-term commitment to sustainability across every region we operate in. In Curaçao, we are already taking important steps toward this goal, with two of our four hotels currently in the process of becoming certified. Our aim is to secure this certification by the end of 2025, further expanding our positive environmental impact beyond Europe.
For us, Green Key is more than just a label. It is a framework for continuous improvement. It challenges us to remain alert and ambitious in our sustainability efforts, to align our operations with global climate goals, and to ensure that our guests can trust in a hotel experience that’s both comfortable and conscious. It also strengthens collaboration with our employees, suppliers, and local communities, all of whom play a key role in reaching and maintaining this standard.
By pursuing and upholding Green Key certification, we are not only reducing our environmental footprint, we are also contributing to a broader movement toward a more resilient, responsible, and future-ready hospitality industry.
