Our sustainable quality standards

Green Key

All our Dutch hotels hold the Green Key Gold certificate, one of the most renowned and internationally recognized quality marks for sustainable hospitality. This means we demonstrably operate sustainably in the areas of energy and water use, waste management, sustainable purchasing, and guest communication.

In Curaçao, we aim to have all our hotels Green Key certified within a reasonable timeframe.

Why Green Key?

Green Key offers international recognition as a leading quality mark for sustainable hospitality. The certificate is awarded based on independent assessment, meaning our environmentally friendly efforts are assessed objectively and transparently. Furthermore, Green Key serves as a framework for continuous improvement, allowing us to systematically refine our sustainability goals. Finally, the certificate instills confidence in our guests, employees, and partners: they know that a stay at Corendon Hotels & Resorts represents a more conscious and responsible approach to business.

Green Key is a voluntary eco-certification programme for hotels, hostels, campsites, holiday parks, small accommodations as well as conference centres, attractions and restaurants.

What is Green Key?

The Green Key certification is based on compliance with strict internationally recognised criteria in the areas of environmental management (water, energy, waste, cleaning, etc.) and sustainability education (staff, guests, suppliers, etc.).

Compliance with the criteria is confirmed through a rigorous application process and third-party verified after regular on-site audits. The certification is valid for one year at a time.

Currently (May 2023), there are more than 7.900 establishments in 90 countries certified with the Green Key.

Green Key is endorsed by various institutional partners, international hotel chain and tour operator partners and cooperating with a range of web partners.

The Green Key programme is managed by the international charity, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and its national member organisations.

ISO 14001 & ISO 50001

Our hotels in the Netherlands are also certified according to the international standards: ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

ISO 14001 focuses on environmental management and helps us systematically manage and reduce the environmental impact of our operations. By working according to this standard, we ensure that our environmental performance is continuously monitored, evaluated, and improved. This contributes to compliance with environmental legislation, risk reduction, and strengthening our ecological responsibility.

ISO 50001, on the other hand, focuses on energy management. This standard offers a structured approach to measuring, managing, and reducing our energy consumption. By using energy more intelligently and efficiently, we reduce our CO₂ emissions and simultaneously lower our operating costs.

Together, these certifications ensure that sustainability not only remains an ambition but is embedded in our daily operations. Measurable, demonstrable, and future-oriented.
