Boeing 747 by Corendon Becomes the Canvas for Artist Lieuwe van Gogh’s Mega Project
In celebration of Corendon’s anniversary year, the iconic Boeing 747 in the garden of the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Hotel in Badhoevedorp is getting a spectacular new look. Visual artist Lieuwe van Gogh, known for his colorful, expressive style and raw portraits, has designed a striking artwork for the aircraft. What makes this project extra special is that Corendon employees also contributed creatively, with Van Gogh incorporating their input into the final piece.
The project is the brainchild of Corendon CEO Gunay Uslu:
“Travel is about emotion, experience, and identity. That’s exactly what we’ve captured in this artwork. Together with Lieuwe and our colleagues, we’re creating something lasting—something seen by thousands of guests and passersby. An artistic monument that tells Corendon’s story and is dedicated to the hundreds of employees who work hard every day for our travelers.”
Art on the edge of travel and storytelling
Lieuwe van Gogh (1991) creates paintings, sculptures, and graphic works centered on themes of identity, imperfection, and character. His work is often bold and outspoken, vividly colored, and visibly influenced by street art, film, and pop culture. He has previously collaborated with organizations such as Big Green Egg, Masters Expo, DOA, Pride Amsterdam, and Royal Polo at the Palace, and has also created commissioned artworks for museums.
For this spectacular project, Van Gogh combines his distinctive artistic style with personal contributions from Corendon employees, who submitted drawings around the themes of travel and freedom. The final artwork is being applied as a large-scale wrap on both sides of the aircraft. At the same time, an exhibition of Van Gogh’s work will be on view in the lobby of the adjacent hotel.
Lieuwe van Gogh:
“This was such a cool project to work on—seeing my art on the iconic Boeing 747 is amazing. The collaboration with Corendon was fantastic, and I’m incredibly grateful.”
