Five young artists have transformed a hotel staircase into a place where stories come to life.

An old family photograph from Curaçao, a tribute to Mother Nature, and the sea as a shared source of inspiration for two friends. These are just some of the stories that can now be discovered in the stairwell of Corendon Amsterdam New-West, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel.

The murals were created by five young artists. Tisja and Ziarah Janssen (Sisters Janssen) bring their Curaçaoan heritage to the forefront of the hotel through vibrant murals filled with colour, family stories and pride. An old family photograph and Carnival feature in their work as powerful symbols of heritage and identity.

Ike Melchizedek (TGIB) brings art and design together in work that explores nature, identity and the world we leave behind for future generations. His daughter inspired The World at Your Feet, in which a young girl looks towards the future.

After more than ten years of friendship, Serena Aruh and Tarhan Öğütçü have created a work of art together for the first time. Their mural brings together their shared connection to the sea and their diverse cultural roots, featuring fish, handmade boats and Mediterranean symbols.
